Summary of Position
The caretaker provides year-round oversight and care of the camp and retreat center while maintaining a positive relationship with the community, renters, and the Board. The position requires dependability, initiative, and the ability to work independently while managing a variety of tasks. The caretaker would live on the campgrounds located in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
Essential Functions
- Hospitality Services: Ensures the campground is ready for guests; welcoming renters and assisting with check-in/check-out; serves as a point of contact during stays; and responding to needs, questions, or concerns.
- Grounds Maintenance: Monitors buildings and property conditions; helps ensure guest safety; maintains roads and walkways; checks indoor and outdoor lighting; and oversees general upkeep of trees, grass, leaves, and grounds.
- Facilities Maintenance: Ensures buildings are ready for guest use; maintains systems such as water, septic, electrical, gas, and pool operations; and services buildings, appliances, equipment, and tools, including seasonal winterizing.
- Facilities Credentialing and Licensing: Ensures compliance with applicable regulations; maintains current certifications, licenses, and inspections; obtains required credentials such as food safety or chemical application certifications; and ensures proper posting of permits and licenses.
- Facilities Readiness: Ensures the grounds and facilities are always ready for guests or tours; maintains needed supplies and cleaning equipment; monitors for pests or maintenance concerns; follows up on reported issues; and coordinates seasonal deep cleaning of buildings and grounds.
- Office Management: Processes and distributes mail; maintains records of receipts and expenses; assists with permits and licensing documentation.

- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call emergencies
- Valid State Driver's License
Desired Competencies/Skills
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid
- Familiarity with basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and landscaping
