Religious Emblems for Youth
The World Community program by Community of Christ offers religious emblems and faith formation for youth ages 7 to 18. This program is recognized by both the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA as a religious emblem award.
Program Details
Path of the Disciple (Ages 7 to 10)
The "Path of the Disciple" program uses the "Of Water and Spirit" material, which includes a facilitator guide and a Disciple Journal. Youth work with an adult mentor or pastor to complete the program. Mentors must be at least 21 years old and registered as Children and Youth Workers with Community of Christ.
Exploring Community Together (Ages 11 to 18)
For older youth, the "Exploring Community Together" program also uses the "Of Water and Spirit" material, tailored for youth and adults. This program consists of 12 lessons, which must be completed to earn the award. Youth can participate individually or in groups, such as scouting units, classes, retreats, camps, youth groups, or clubs. Mentors must meet the same requirements as those in the younger age group.
How to Participate
Youth interested in the World Community program should work with their local pastor or mentor to begin the process. Materials are available for purchase through Herald House.
Recognition and Awards
Upon completing the program, youth receive a level-specific pin, the World Community emblem, and a certificate. For subsequent levels, additional pins and certificates are awarded. Adults who serve in the program may be eligible for the International Youth Service Award, recognizing their contributions at various levels within the church.
Order Awards
Awards can be ordered through P.R.A.Y. using the appropriate forms.
