We are exploring what it means to follow Christ in a series called "Toward the Peaceful One."

As part of this series, participants examined Andrea Read-Davis' article "Toward the Peaceful One: Jesus, the Development Worker" in an online discussion held in October 2020. In it, Andrea reminded us that Jesus called us to act selflessly with love, compassion, and justice in fighting poverty and tells us, "The solutions to systemic, global poverty start with a choice." She asks us, "Will we act, respond, speak up, and step forward? Will we honor the dignity of the person of worth in need? Will we do all we can to build trusting and loving relationships with the poor? Will we give of our time and attention, not just our money? Will we serve the poor because they are Jesus? If not, who are we?"
