How to Submit a Story
Submission Guidelines
- Word Limit: Stories should be no longer than 350 words.
- Global Audience: Write from your own context, but remember that Daily Bread reaches a global audience. Avoid culturally specific references and images that may not be universally understood.
- Authentic Voice: Write in your own voice as a representative of Community of Christ. Daily Bread is a ministry that reflects the identity, message, mission, and beliefs of the church through diverse voices and stories.
- Original Work: Ensure your writing is original. Use only very general paraphrases of copyrighted materials, if at all. Specific quotes must be properly referenced.
- Editorial Process: The Daily Bread editing team will select the photo, scripture, and spiritual practice for your story. You are welcome to suggest a relevant scripture, but it is not required.
- Copyright and Usage: All submitted material is subject to editing and approval. Once approved, it will be copyrighted by Community of Christ for use in print, film, electronic media, and digital representation on the internet.
- Types of Submissions: Consider submitting stories, poetry, or reflections.
