Prayer for Peace

All-knowing and all-seeing creator,

In these times of constant upheaval, we lose sight of your mission for us. We are too often overwhelmed by the anger, hatred, suffering, and despair that bleeds into our lives. We feel helpless against the tide of hopelessness that threatens to wash us away. We forget our most powerful ally.

Peace starts with you, Lord. When we remember to look first to you, we regain the serenity brought by your unconditional love for us. When we remember to think first of your son's ministry, we reflect your love like the sun, radiating outward to all whom we encounter. When we remember to live Christ’s mission, we bring peace to the conflicted, hope to the hopeless, relief to the oppressed, freedom to the imprisoned, and love to the forlorn.

The mission and ministry of Jesus were not only lessons for how we are to live but also guides for how we can bring peace to our troubled world, one person at a time. We are the ministers of peace to our families, to our communities, to our nations, and to our planet. Help us remember our purpose and our mission.
