Please speak louder, God, so I can hear you. Oh…what’s that you say? Open my ears and be quiet? Okay. Make my ears like Horton, so I may hear every Whovillean, so I might hear everyone who calls for help.

Come to me so I may see you, God. Oh, do I see you over there…are you that hungry child? The one with bare feet, tears in his eyes, and flies on his mouth?

Allow me to feel you, God, to feel your warm spirit. What’s that you say? You want me to feel the pain and suffering of others? Is it my heart, as well as my ears and eyes, you want me to open, God? What…you want me to open my heart and never let it close?

Speak through me, God. Let me say spectacular speeches and pray awesome prayers in front of large crowds. What? You want me to whisper of your love to the one who is alone? You want me to speak through compassionate actions, without saying a word? Are you saying you want me to practice your peace, not preach it? (I get it.) Amen.
