Prayer for Peace

Dear God,

Today is so beautiful! It’s hard to think your whole world isn’t this peaceful. But we know of families in our town who are so angry at each other. They tear one another down. This is not peace.

We know another family that experienced a tragedy. All the parents’ attention is on the hurt child, and the other family members are crying out for help. There is no peace in this family.

We all need your spirit so much to bring us peace. We’re thankful for the times we feel the peace of your spirit. Help us try to pass it on.

We know about wars in Bosnia, Africa, Palestine, and Latin America. We also know about floods in our country, tornadoes, earthquakes in Japan, and hunger in many places. In general, we pray for peace.

Let the words of peace be in our minds.
And let the acts of peace be in our lives.

We pray in the name of the prince of peace. Amen.
