Lord, we make our confession that the peace of Christ eludes us because the love of Christ does not fill us.

Open our hearts to this love…
The love that allows us to accept those who are different and express opposing views.

Open our hearts to this love…
The love that is free to offer and receive forgiveness rather than demand its own way.

Open our hearts to this love…
The love that embraces the worth of persons more than the worth of treasure.

Open our hearts to this love…
The love where we find not only Jesus on the cross but our willingness to go there as well if it means justice or joy for another.

Open our hearts to this love…
The love which presides in the community of your kingdom—Christ’s peaceable kingdom—the kingdom for which we pray.
