Prayer of Blessing: North
(Face North)

Leader: Wrapped in autumn’s blaze of color,
whipped by winter winds,
stung by icy rain, or warmed by sunshine’s summer smile,
we hear the whisper of your Spirit
gracious God to bless thy children northward.

People: Bless them to be a blessing

Leader: to those who have responded to your love,
and those who yearn its awakening.
Lighten their feet on the path to community
that they may not falter nor stumble
as they seek those who seek you.
Shine in them and through them
dispelling the dark night of the soul.

People: so that all might journey
in the sunshine of your love.
Lift us up on eagle’s wings!

Prayer of Blessing: South
(Face South)

Leader: Rhythmic drums, salt air breezes,
sand and surf and scented flowers,
cityscapes and sleepy towns,
colored faces and many tongues.
Your children of the south sing
and share the hope for true community
where all are welcomed at your table,
where all walk hand in hand on paths of discipleship.

People: Bless them to be a blessing

Leader: enabling thy son’s community to be heard and seen
in redemptive acts of love and compassion.
Enrich them with your Spirit,
empower them with hope that lives anew.

People: so that all might journey
in the sunshine of your love.
Lift us up on eagle’s wings!

Prayer of Blessing: East
(Face East)

Leader: Cradle of the sun, mystic ancient voices,
sandaled feet and hand-loomed sarees,
business suits and mandarin collars,
blending old and new.
The children of the East
glimpse your face in sweeping shrines
and thatched roof temples,
in simple homes and shining towers
They too call to you,
seeking paths of community.

People: Bless them to be a blessing

Leader: that discordant voices may speak your joy
in harmony amidst diversity.
Grant them clear vision of your oneness,
that all who seek to write your name
may inscribe it on hearts of acceptance

People: so that all might journey
in the sunshine of your love.
Lift us up on eagle’s wings!

Prayer of Blessing: West
(Face West)

Leader: Land of the setting sun,
flatlands’ prairie wheat dancing in the wind,
snowcapped mountains and skies that yawn.
Farmer, rancher, silicon chips,
rivers and wildlife, highways and concrete.
We pray thy blessing for your children in the West.
Upon they who strain to hear your song of hope,
and they who yearn to sing it.

People: Bless them to be a blessing

Leader: that streams of your community
may spill into hearts grown cold
and quench the sick soul’s thirst.
Enliven their witness; strengthen their resolve
on the path of discipleship

People: so that all might journey
in the sunshine of your love.
