Prayer for Peace

Dear God of All Nations,
My eyes are closed – I don’t see the sadness around me.
My ears are shut – I am not aware of the cries of the hurting.
My hands are still – I am not offering to carry, to hold, to hug.
My heart is cold – I worry that as one person, I can’t make a difference.
And I want to change. I am a child of God and long to be compassionate.

Change me Lord,
So that my eyes are open, and I recognize the needs of my neighbor.
So that my ears are ready, and I can listen to a child.
So that my hands will be busy, and I will find a work that must begin.
So that my heart will overflow with love for all people.
Change me so that peace can begin with me. Amen.
