Prayer for Peace

Holy One,
Open the floodgates of peace.
Open the mouths of your prophets
And let them proclaim peace
From one ocean to another.

Even though we crave an
Everlasting peace, give us one moment—
Two lions giving up a skirmish,
Two humans healing from a triviality.

Let us be the bearers of your witness,
Shunning hateful speech,
Shunning discrimination,

Open the floodgates of peace.
Open the hearts of your people
And fill them with love and hope
From one ocean to another.
