Prayer for Peace
Issac Bennet Joshua
Our parent God,
We come to your sanctuary with a hope
We live in fear, God.
Where are you, God?
Hatredness is everywhere.
Our love is very biased
Creation continues to weep with us
God, what sex do you fit into?
We turn our faces and often fail to embrace our brothers and sisters who are gay, lesbian, bisexual…
God, what religion do you belong to?
Often we are more secure with our religious identities that lead us into separation and exclusion
Break the walls that separate and unite with your love
God, what is your color?
Sometimes, we are treated based on our skin color. Don’t you embrace if we are Black, brown, Asian, or African?
We love you, God.
God, where do we see you?
Give us courage to embrace who we are and serve one another with love
Help us to love and be kind to one another
Community of Christ is a sacred blessing that you have called us into. It helps us to be fully awake to all injustices and resist all evils that continue to threaten humanity.
Help us to witness authentic discipleship and create a safe place where every voice can be heard. Be with us in this wild journey and continue to guide us with your everlasting love.
Amen.
