Prayer for Peace

Sacred One who tends and holds us,

We praise you and acknowledge you as the life and lights of our spirit. We thank you for your loving presence and for all the blessings you have given us.

Dear One, we pray with many others who seek peace in our world. We know confusion, anxiety, injustice, hate, and violence are causing so much suffering to your beloved creation. We ask for a special blessing on all who work to relieve that suffering.

We ask a blessing for the leaders of nations. Grant them wisdom and patience as they make decisions. Help them to work in harmony as they strive to find ways to deal with the many difficult problems of living together in our complex world. Soften the hearts of those who would use violence to settle disputes.

God of love, touch our hearts with the compassion of your son. Give us eyes to see the path of peace. Help us demonstrate that path in every aspect of our lives. May we show your love for all. May we keep before us the vision of your peaceable kingdom.

We ask these things in the name of the prince of peace, even your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
