Today in our prayers for the people of Colombia.

Prayer for Peace

God, creator of everything,

You alone understand what peace truly means. You gave your son, the Prince of Peace, in a most sacrificial, unselfish, and loving way.

And so, we pray for peace this day.

Peace is painted in a beautiful landscape—mountains, sunrise, surf, or robust fields of flowers.

Peace is heard in the stillness of a campfire—crickets, harmonizing voices, reflections of nature’s grandeur.

Peace is seen in the eyes of a newborn, faithful hands wrinkled from cares.

Peace is quiet. Peace is comfort. Peace is what we strive for.

But we recognize peace is more than silence and reflective moments.

Peace is the voice that speaks up for the marginalized.

Peace is the march that demonstrates for rights of the oppressed.

Peace is hands distributing food to those who have none.

Peace is the care in teaching adults to read.

Peace is teaching families skills that make their world better.

Peace is in loud voices.

Peace is in dirty streets.

Peace is in the eyes of a beggar.

For we know, O God, creator of all things, you are there when we look, listen, touch, and care deeply.

You are the author and model of peace.

May we actively live your peace today.
