Prayer for Peace

Finis Easter

God of heaven and earth, we meet in the name of your risen son, the prince of peace. This day and every day we thank you for your undying love, made manifest to us in the presence of our living Lord. We thank you for the empty cross, the empty tomb, and their significance in our lives.

We pause to give thee thanks for the promise of your kingdom, the manifestation of your love made alive in those who embrace your gospel of love.

We repent of our sins of naivete and ignorance and our more obvious sins of commission and omission. May we be aware of and respond affirmatively to opportunities to share your love among our neighbors and associates. May we see and respond to service opportunities and recognize our opportunities of preparation and increase in skill and knowledge.

Because of your blessings, O Lord, we commit ourselves to sharing your love wherever we may find ourselves. We realize the only pathway to lasting peace in this world leads to the recognition of the worth of all persons. Only in each, living and responding to the laws of love, will peace invade and pervade our hearts. May your kingdom come, O Lord, and may we be instruments in thy hands to bring a newness of life as a resurrection to our beleaguered planet.

We pray earnestly in the sacred name of the risen Christ, truly the prince of peace. Amen.
