Prayer for Peace
Larry Norris
O God,
It is beyond our comprehension that you birthed all from the eruption of your love and energy billions of years ago, resulting in trillions of stars and billions of galaxies in this multiverse.
We are all part of that creation, each formed from stardust. Therefore, we are all one birthed by your love.
We attempt to be worthy of that love by sharing it but are not always successful. We are filled with awe but occasionally oblivious.
We have all suffered loss but also have faith-enduring companionship. So we remain one.
We all seek to be inclusive but sometimes participate in exclusivity, are indifferent but frequently compassionate. We are still one.
We are faithful but sometimes unbelieving. We have been both healthy and ill. We have so much in common and, therefore, are one.
We desire peace and often engage in conflict. We are wasteful consumers, yet often generous. We feel insignificant, but you make it clear that every one of us is precious in your sight. Yes, we are one.
We are enigmas even to ourselves, but you love and graciously embrace us. We wish to love you and one another with the same extraordinary grace you have modeled for us through your son.
We hope and pray to be wholly and completely one. May it be so. We pray in the name of your son Jesus.
Amen.
