News from the Western Europe Mission Centre:
In Solidarity and Compassion
Community of Christ has made a special gift to Cáritas Valencia, the charitable arm of the Catholic Church in Valencia, Spain, in response to the devastating impact of the DANA storm that struck in late October 2024. This disaster, among the top 10 costliest global climate events of 2024, claimed over 200 lives and caused immense suffering when tsunami-like waters swept people, homes, and businesses away.
This gesture reflects our Mission Initiative to Abolish Poverty, End Suffering and stands in solidarity with our members, friends, and seekers in Spain, who petitioned for this response. As the Mediterranean basin faces rapid climate change—warming 20% faster than the global average—this gift is also an ecumenical commitment to work as the Body of Christ, honoring the Sacredness of Creation and extending peace and compassion to those in need.
Together, we pray for healing, recovery, and hope.
