Policy updates regarding priesthood and personal relationships were implemented in 2025 in Canada, the USA, and the British Isles Mission Centre. These were made possible through World Conference Resolution 1327 passed at the 2023 World Conference. This resolution authorized apostles, in collaboration with the Council of Twelve Apostles and First Presidency, to develop policies on marriage and marriage-like relationships in ways that honor local laws, customs, and culture.
All policies are rooted in the principle of monogamy and principles of right relationships, which include Christ-like love, mutual respect, responsibility, justice, covenant, and faithfulness, as expressed in Doctrine and Covenants 164:6.
