In response to World Conference Resolution (WCR) 1325 Climate Emergency, adopted 25 April 2023, Community of Christ declares a climate emergency, joining 2,329 jurisdictions in forty countries as of 5 May 2023.
The Presiding Bishopric shares an update regarding actions at International Headquarters that support WCR 1325:
"When making updates to the Temple Complex, we approach every project through the lens of Sacredness of Creation. We constantly ask ourselves: what is the best possible way to promote both environmental and organizational health?
This commitment guides our work, from converting to LED lighting to replacing equipment with more energy-efficient models. We continue to improve our robust recycling program, and our next major project, which is currently in development, will involve new, more efficient boilers, chillers, and a chiller tower.
These projects, like our ongoing recycling efforts, demonstrate our enduring commitment to the Sacredness of Creation principle. This principle is always at the forefront of our minds as we make changes to the Temple Complex.
