Summary of Position

The Rocky Mountain USA Mission Center (RMMC) is seeking a full-time minister focusing on revitalizing ministry. The primary goal will be to enhance the missional efforts of the Mission Center and its congregations, focusing on our older youth and young adults. Compensation package could include Mission Center owned condo, car, computer, Ministerial Reimbursement fund and benefits. Applicants must live within the mission center.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as a member of the RMMC Leadership Team.
  2. Works with the RMMC leadership team and pastors to establish and implement strategies of ministry to reach youth and young adults.
  3. Is willing and able to drive to (destinations up to 450 miles) and spend time in all RMMC congregations and communities. (currently 21).
  4. Visits each congregation/community at least once a year. Normally this visit will include participation in a worship service and connection with members and friends of Community of Christ in each location (per the suggestion of the host pasto, this could be preaching, sharing a testimony, or teaching a class), and working with pastors on missional possibilities.
  5. Works to support the existing volunteer RMMC Invitational Support Minister in missional opportunities. In conjunction with Invitation Support Minister, experiments with innovative worship ministry and connection with congregations utilizing technology for cross congregational worship, training, exploration, etc.
  6. Works with the World Church Emerging Generations Specialist to provide missional opportunities for youth and young adult engagement in the Rocky Mountain Mission Center.
  7. Works with Western Field Young Adult minister to support at least one young adult event in the Western Field.
  8. Attends and active in ministerial roles at Family Reunions, Camps, Retreats, RMMC Conferences, and Graceland Spectacular.
  9. Becomes familiar with and utilizes all current RMMC electronic media venues to communicate. The current list being used in the RMMC includes Zoom meetings, Streaming video of in-person worship over the internet, RMMC web site, RMMC email distribution list, RMMC Facebook page, and RMMC weekly newsletter via email.

  1. Serves as a Melchisedek priesthood member in Community of Christ; adhering to all guidelines and policies for priesthood in Community of Christ. (supported by resume and references)
  2. Upholds the Mission Initiatives and Enduring Principles of Community of Christ.
  3. Demonstrates leadership skills in both congregation and mission center settings.
  4. Utilizes preaching and teaching skills that are adaptable to each situation, providing support for disciple development.
  5. Comfortable meeting new people of all ages, genders, races, economic levels, and others marginalized for any reason outside the walls of the church. Demonstrates skill to establish rapport, foster inclusiveness, and share witness in various community settings.
  6. Demonstrates passion and applicable skills for ministering to younger generations, focusing on the personal and leadership development in these groups.
  7. Expresses and prioritizes work-life balance.
  8. Is aware of, and responsive to, the changing needs and focus of current Christian faith discipling.
  9. Teaches and models the principles of a disciple’s generous response.

Required Trainings

Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
