Summary of Position
The Innovative Minister will expand upon traditional offerings by designing, implementing and leading sustainable ministries that bring disciples and seekers into Christ-centered communities (in-person, online, and hybrid) throughout the Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center. They will also be instrumental in integrating leadership development opportunities for emerging leaders & principles of generosity into lesson plans to promote whole-life stewardship and discipleship formation. In addition to the above, the Innovative Minister will support Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center gatherings by assuming leadership and/or primary roles multiple times per year.
Essential Functions
- Currently resides, or willing to relocate, to the Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center
- Expands the Community of Christ's ministerial footprint by designing, implementing, and leading ministries outside congregational worship, focusing on communities beyond the horizon of traditional ministry
- Integrates principles of generosity to inspire and promote whole-life stewardship into ministry objectives
- Empowers and develops leaders for grassroots impact
- Assumes Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center leadership roles multiple times per year including, but not limited to, mission center conferences, retreats, and campground ministries
- Writes articles for Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center correspondence including Weekly Updates, social media, and our local publication, "The Beacon"
- Provides quarterly updates to congregational leaders about completed and upcoming ministry gatherings
- Meets with Mission Center Leadership monthly to discuss trends, needs, and emerging opportunities for Christ-centered ministries
Required Competencies/Skills
- Currently serving as member of the Melchizedek Priesthood in Community of Christ
- Passionate about non-traditional ministries
- Experienced with Young Adult/Young Family and Campground Ministry
- Exceptional ability to integrate Community of Christ Identity, Mission, Message and Beliefs with technology and social media
- Willingness to respond to and lead missional opportunities and trends throughout the Eastern Great Lakes Mission Center
