Summary of Position
The two-year Graduate Assistant position is an opportunity to develop personally and professionally in ministry with Community of Christ. The Graduate Assistant will complete a Master of Arts in Religion or similar through the Community of Christ Seminary while actively involved in ministry at Graceland University on the Lamoni, Iowa campus. The Graduate Assistant serves as an assistant to the Campus Minister. The position provides ministry through the Community of Christ tradition and practices to and with students, in groups and one-on-one. The position is part of the Student Life team and shares a focus on student success and retention. The part-time position includes a small salary, seminary costs, on-campus housing and food (individual, during the academic year only), office space and books. The ministry portion of the position consists of two, 16-week periods for each of two years, approximately August 15th through December 15th and January 2nd through May 2nd, with dates negotiable and fluctuating to the corresponding academic calendar for Graceland University’s Lamoni, Iowa campus. Work on the Master of Arts through the seminary has its own academic schedule; work on the degree is not part of the 20 hours per week; the Graduate Assistant will be expected to attend in-person focus sessions scheduled during the 16-week periods.
Essential Functions
- Successfully complete the Master of Arts degree in the Community of Christ Seminary.
- Offer pastoral care, disciple formation, and relational ministry to students on the Lamoni campus, focusing on Community of Christ students. (5 hours per week)
- Maintain a ministry of presence in the Campus Ministries Student Office as scheduled with the Campus Minister. (5 hours per week)
- Offer a positive witness and testimony of Jesus Christ and the Community of Christ.
- Assist the Campus Minister with InSpire, the Community of Christ Missional Ministry and Leadership Practicum. (5 hours per week)
- Attend, support, and lead Community of Christ worship on campus, including speaking, presiding, and administering the Sacraments (if holding appropriate priesthood). (3 hours per week)
- Attend/support/lead meetings of the Campus Ministries teams, including the Council of House Chaplains and Campus Chaplains (student employees). (2 hours per week)
- Provide ministry to the wider church when possible; participate in World Church events as coordinated with the Campus Minister. (fluctuates)
Hours per week are approximate and will be coordinated with the Campus Minister.

Required Trainings
Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
