Summary of Position
Works as an International Headquarters employee to support financial officers in the field at all levels with Shelby, financial reporting, contributions, accounting and general support. This support position serves to support bishopric functions across the church.
Essential Functions
1. Provides accounting support to the different jurisdictions of the church and headquarters.
- Monitors Fiscal Help Desk emails, phone calls, and related requests.
- Researches and responds to Fiscal Help Desk inquiries.
- Assists and supports financial officers at all levels (FSM, mission center, or congregational) to address administrative issues and processes such as: contribution receipting and reports; recorder and membership; MIS/Shelby training and support; assuring bookkeeping/accounting procedures.
- Supports training administrative volunteers and locally funded staff such as financial officer, bookkeepers, recorders, and campground board members, including the use of MIS/Shelby.
6. May be assigned special projects or interim roles related to Field Support, Fiscal Services, and/or Bishopric.
Required Competencies/Skills
- Working knowledge of computer programs/systems: MS Word/Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS OneDrive, MIS/Shelby – or the ability to learn these programs and systems in six months.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
- Good collaboration and communication skills.
- Independent research and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle and manage competing priorities with multiple stakeholders.
- Meticulous and detail oriented.
- Able to deal with confidential information.
- Working knowledge of Community of Christ administrative procedures and policies.

Required Trainings
Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
