Summary of Position
The Emerging Generations Specialist develops and supports innovative ministries for the spiritual formation of children, youth, and early young adults. Requires familiarity with the developmental stages of emerging generations from birth to early young adulthood that form discipleship in diverse and changing contexts. Identifies priorities for developing ministries and resources for emerging generations and their primary caregivers, educators, ministers, and families. Coordinates with volunteer teams supporting formation for emerging generations now and with a vision for the kind of formational experiences most needed into the future. Priest or Melchisedek priesthood in Community of Christ preferred.
Essential Functions
- Leads development of innovative formational resources and experiences for emerging generations (birth to early twenties) with the support of volunteer teams.
- Serves as a member of the Intercultural Formation Ministries Team.
- Develops supportive networks for children, youth, and young adult ministers for collaboration, training, communication, and connection throughout the worldwide church.
- Advocates for emerging generations as a member of the Formation Ministries Team and in world church events and experiences.
- Offers collaboration or support of initiatives that develop leaders in the area of spiritual formation and discipleship for children, youth, and early young adults.
- Partners with, listens to, and engages emerging generations to more deeply understand the kinds of ministries most needed.
- Supports world church events such as SPECTACULAR and IYF.
- Seeks out ecumenical connections and partnerships focused on emerging generations that can enrich and strengthen ministry practices and offerings.
- Coordinates age specific resources for reunions and camps.
- Collaborates with Communications on strategies for online engagement of emerging generations including age-appropriate content creation with and for youth and early young adults.
- Provides ministry in jurisdictions throughout the church which may include performing sacraments or writing theological material.

Required Trainings
Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
