Summary of Position

An ordained Community of Christ minister, this position provides strategic leadership and operational management of World Church human resources. Responsibility includes maintaining processes and leading initiatives that analyze, develop, and implement employment policies and procedures encompassing all aspects of human resources for staff throughout the world.  This position is the lead Human Resource professional for IHQ and the USA church, and strategic support for human resource management outside the USA and IHQ (local church employers).  Coordinates with local HR managers on employment policies, decisions, and best practices guided by Community of Christ organizational principles and values.  This position is remote eligible within the USA or Canada; on-site preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Oversees all human resource management for the world-wide church
  2. With Human Resource Ministries Team and International Services, manages all World Church employment data and policies within best practices and compliance with applicable laws
  3. Directs and supervises the Human Resource Ministries team
  4. Directs International Services Team in coordinating the legal, budgetary, and human resource aspects of international employment and employment relationships; supports
  5. Provides human resource guidance to all fields of the church within the scope of organizational policies, budget resources, and best HR practices; refers local jurisdictions and international leaders to professional guidance for compliance with national and state/province/etc. level and local employment law
  6. Develops and administers appropriate compensation and benefits for all World Church employees; coordinates fiscal management of employment and HR management with the Presiding Bishopric with regard to compensation and benefits,
  7. Collaborates management of retirement benefits for senior appointees and retirees throughout the church with the Benefits Administrator or local HR managers
  8. Leading member of World Church Human Resources Committee under the guidance of the Presiding Bishopric, providing primary administrative support for the committee
  9. Coordinates the Council of Twelve and Field Bishops, with approval of senior leadership, the assignment, employment, and relocation (if appropriate) of staff
  10. Ability to travel regularly throughout the world to engage in public ministry and support to staff.

Required Trainings

Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
