Summary of Position

The Generosity Minister 1 works as a member of the Mission Funding Team assisting in connecting and engaging with individuals and families between the ages of 25-45 with the goal of opening doors for engagement and connection with the church’s mission that flow into opportunities for generosity. Responsibilities include collaborating with an advisory team composed of young adults, church leaders, and field leaders to develop resources and ministries that connect young adults to mission and generosity as a way of life; overseeing the development of whole-life stewardship resources that connect with young adults; acting as a primary liaison with the Mission Funding Council; capturing and crafting stories about the impact of generosity that resonate with young adults; building and maintaining relationships with young adult individuals and families by visiting them in their homes and maintaining open lines of communication with the goal of cultivating generosity; attending field events and providing young adult ministry including administering the Sacraments where opportunities to convey the inextricable link between mission and generosity are present.

 This IHQ position is on-site preferred, but remote work eligible depending on candidate.  Travel required.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides support to the Mission Funding team including strategic planning to assist in funding church mission.
  2. Clearly articulates a compelling vision and mission for the future of Community of Christ consistent with our identity, message, mission, beliefs and case statement and their connection to generosity.
  3. Works directly with individuals/families between the ages of 25-45 to help them envision how they can connect with mission and respond through whole-life stewardship.
  4. Meets fundraising goals by cultivating gifts to the church with a focus on Worldwide Mission Tithes and endowment support.
  5. Develops church wide communications related to generosity and mission for young adults.
  6. Sits as a member of the Mission Funding Council providing ministerial and fundraising activities including stewardship formation ministries.
  7. Manages and maintains relationships with contributors between the ages of 25-45 including online and in-person visits in their homes and sharing in confidential conversations requiring ministerial sensitivity and pastoral support.
  8. Attends online and in-person reunions, retreats and training sessions throughout the US fields providing young adult ministry, leading worship and classes and administering the Sacraments where opportunities to convey the inextricable link between mission and generosity are present.
  9. Plans, coordinates, implements and attends online and in-person events focused on engaging young adults in mission and generosity in locations around the United States.
  10. Supports the Presiding Bishopric in planning, writing, and developing whole-life stewardship resources specifically targeted to young adults.
  11. Helps facilitate gift and estate plans with contributors that ensure their goals for supporting mission and the needs of their family are met.
  12. Remains knowledgeable about the different tools (i.e. IRA gifts, estate plans, endowment gifts, etc.) contributors can use to support the vision and mission of the church.
  13. Enters and maintains accurate data on contributors in Raiser's Edge database.
  14. Uplifts and models generosity as a way of life.

Required Trainings

Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.

Must be ordained Priest. Melchisedec priesthood member.
