eTithing FAQs

It's quick and easy to give securely through eTithing.

About

What is eTithing?

eTithing is Community of Christ’s online platform hosted by SecureGive for members and friends in the USA to give Mission Tithes. Giving is safe, easy, and flexible, using desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Make one-time or recurring contributions by bank withdrawal, and with credit and debit cards. When you set up a recurring contribution, you decide when giving starts and the frequency of recurrence (weekly, every two weeks, bimonthly, or monthly).

Contribute anonymously or create an account. With an account, you can:

  • Manage your own information.
  • View your giving history.
  • Add or edit bank account information.
  • Add a credit or debit card.
  • Change credit or debit card information.

Why am I receiving emails from SecureGive?

SecureGive hosts eTithing. SecureGive notifies eTithing users any time a contribution was successfully made to Community of Christ or if a transaction failed. SecureGive manages the privacy of your personal information, therefore they work directly with you about your account.

Who do I contact if I need help?

If you need help with your eTithing account, contact Fiscal Services

Because eTithing is hosted by SecureGive, International Headquarters does not have access to your account details.  Fiscal Services cannot change or update any information for you. If you are having trouble making changes, we will try to guide you through the steps.

Contributions

How do I contribute on eTithing?

Visit etithing.org. To give to your local congregation and/or worldwide mission tithes through your congregation, select your congregation from the first page. If your congregation is not listed, select "My Home Congregation." Then follow the prompts to complete the giving process.

If you wish to give to Worldwide Mission Tithes without going through your congregation, select World Church from the first page.

How do I give if my congregation is not listed?

If your congregation is not listed on eTithing select “My Home Congregation” from the first page. Your local contributions made through the “My Home Congregation” listing will be directed to the congregation where you are listed as member in our membership database Shelby.

Congregations that do not accept electronic contributions or do not enter their contributions into the church's receipting database Shelby are not eligible to participate in eTithing. If your congregation is not listed and you want to know why, contact your Congregational Financial Officer.

How do I give to a congregation and World Church?

No, you don't have to set up separate gifts to give to your local congregation and World Church. You can do both in the same gift through your congregation if it is listed or through “My Home Congregation” if your congregation is not listed.

If you wish to give to Worldwide Mission Tithes without going through your congregation, select World Church from the first page.

Can I give to more than one congregation?

Yes, you can give to any congregation or mission center that is listed on eTithing by setting up a separate gift for each one that you want to support.

How do I add a congregation to eTithing?

Contact your Congregational Financial Officer (CFO). If appropriate, your CFO will work with Fiscal Services to enroll your congregation in eTithing. CFOs can email Fiscal Services or call + 1 (816) 833-1000, ext. 1391 to begin the process.

It depends on what date you set in your account. Users with eTithing accounts choose when their giving starts and the frequency of recurrence (weekly, every two weeks, bimonthly, or monthly). Log into your eTithing account, to change the withdrawal date and frequency of recurrence.

Contributors Statements

Why aren't all my eTithing contributions listed on my Contributor's Statement?

Only your eTithing contributions given through “My Home Congregation” or a congregation listed on eTithing will be included on the Contributor’s Statement you receive from your Congregational Financial Officer.

Your eTithing contributions given through the World Church or Bridge of Hope listing on eTithing, will not be on the statement you receive from your Congregational Financial Officer. You will receive a separate Contributor’s Statement in the mail from International Headquarters.

If the system cannot link your eTithing account to a congregation, you will receive a separate Contributor’s Statement in the mail from International Headquarters.

Will I get a tax receipt for my eTithing contributions?

Yes, your eTithing contributions will be included on the Contributor’s Statement you receive from your Congregational Financial Officer if you are a member of a USA congregation and your eTithing contribution is given through “My Home Congregation” or a congregation listed on eTithing.

You will receive a Contributor’s Statement in the mail from International Headquarters if you give through the World Church listing on eTithing or if your eTithing account cannot be linked by the system to a congregation.
