Fulfill the purposes of the Temple by making its ministries manifest in your hearts. It was built from your sacrifices and searching over many generations. Let it stand as a towering symbol of a people who knew injustice and strife on the frontier and who now seek the peace of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

Doctrine and Covenants 161:2b

“Can you believe that lightbulb is still working?” My husband, Mac, was talking about the replacement bulb in the light on our front lawn. Since installing the tall light fixture, we had experienced problems with bulbs burning out, some lasting only a few weeks.

Mac replaced the timer and tried bulbs with various wattages, colors, shapes, and so on. We started to think the light fixture itself was defective. Then, needing to replace the bulb again, Mac rummaged through our box of extra bulbs. He found a blue bulb (where had that come from?) and thought it might last a month. It has now been two years!

A few weeks ago, in church we listened to Paul’s letter in 1 Corinthians 12, where he explains that each of us has special gifts that are important and necessary to the benefit of others. We may not all be able to sing a solo in church, teach preschool, or deliver a sermon. Yet each of us has a gift to give, a light to shine, just like my little blue bulb. It is the perfect fit for the job of lighting the walkway in front of our house.

You are the perfect fit for a job that will light your corner of the world. You are the only one who can do what you do.

Prayer Phrase

“And all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

Abundant Blessings

At the close of the day, reflect on where you noticed God’s blessings, especially in unexpected places. Offer a prayer of thanks and try to release any worry, trusting that God’s abundance will meet you again tomorrow.
