When We Share (Part 4)

By Ron Harmon, Presiding Bishop

…the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low; for the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare…

Doctrine and Covenants 101:2f

(adapted from Witness the Word sermon)

Scarcity is a myth when resources are shared. What does it look like for us to live this now?

It begins, I think, with a simple question:
What do we already have?
Not what we lack. Not what we wish we had. But what has already been placed into our hands?

Because the miracle of the loaves and fishes did not start with abundance.
It started with willingness.

Friends, the crowds are still hungry.
The needs in our communities are real.
The challenges we face are significant.
But the question is not whether there is enough.

The question is:
Will we trust God enough to share?
So hear again the words of Jesus: “You give them something to eat.”
Not because you have enough. But because together, in Christ…

There is enough.
There is enough for everyone.

Prayer Phrase

“I am about to do a new thing” (Isaiah 43:18).

Embrace Abundance

Take a slow breath and open your hands. Consider one thing you have received—love, grace, time, resources, or opportunity. Now ask, “What has been given to me that I can share with someone else?” Hold that thought for a moment. As you breathe in, say, “I receive with gratitude.” As you breathe out, “I give faithfully with generosity.” Pray, “May I trust there is enough when I choose to share what I have for the welfare of all.”
