The Peace of Jesus Christ

24 March 2023

By Ken McLaughlin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA

In the many places where you are called to labor, the forces of darkness and destruction are active indeed, and seem to hold sway. Your hearts are burdened by the magnitude of the tasks that are yours in bringing the light of my gospel into such darkness. Nevertheless, I have heard your prayers when you have cried out to me, and I have been with you in the places where you occupy. I am aware of your desires to serve me and my assurance is that as you go forth, your offerings of faith and service are acceptable to me.

Doctrine and Covenants 157:16

The peace of Jesus Christ
Makes us whole
Give us life, restores our souls,
Brings us grace, Sets us free,
God’s liberty.

We open heart and hands,
We hear the call
That no child on earth shall fall.
Warfare cease! Justice for
The lost and least.
No walls of hate shall stand.
No words divide.
As we journey side by side
Making earth one sacred home.
At last! God’s sweet shalom.

The peace of Jesus Christ still alive
In each nation, home, and tribe.
God’s intent—world rebirth.
All are of worth.

We shall pursue this peace
And share our wealth,
Feed the starved, restore lost health.
Dignity, love for all humanity.

Be brave, be strong, be bold!
We are not frail.
Side by side, we shall not fail
To make earth one sacred home.
At last! God’s sweet shalom.
