O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill? Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth from their heart…
Embracing peace involves every part of us. Our faith tradition is a spirituality of wholeness, which is the scriptural meaning of authentic peace. When we seek peace, celebrate peace, “go with peace.”
We must engage our hearts and hands, our brains and senses, our bodies and spirits. In essence we become soulful people, experiencing the wonder of life within the sacred complexity of God’s creation.
When we pay attention to Spirit, we begin to hear, see, and feel God’s dream of peace waking up and taking form in our lives.
As hearers, menders, and restorers of God’s beloved community, we are invited to compassionate participation in holistic peacemaking.
This was the central passion of Jesus’ life. May the spirit move and breathe and speak among us until it becomes our passion as well.
Prayer Phrase
“We love because God first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
Sea of Light
Quiet and center yourself. Ask for God’s healing and guidance as you enter this time of prayerful presence. Close your eyes, breathing deeply and calmly. Imagine that you are floating in a beautiful sea of light that rises and falls with each cycle of your breath. The golden light of this sea buoys you up, so you float effortlessly. Waves of light carry and wash over you, bringing wholeness and peace. Rest in the sea of God’s love, then offer a prayer of gratitude.
