Sharing Abundantly

4 November 2025

Faithful disciples respond to an increasing awareness of the abundant generosity of God by sharing according to the desires of their hearts; not by commandment or constraint.

Doctrine and Covenants 163:9

[Excerpted from “Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance,” https://cofchrist.org/generosity-cycle/]

This is the fourth communal and individual reflection from the Generosity Cycle resource titled “Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance.”

Sharing Abundantly

Focus: We generously share witness, resources, ministries, and sacraments.

Message Theme: We are called to generous living not just through traditional giving but through creative, Spirit-led possibilities. God’s grace invites us to imagine generosity beyond money or roles—through imagination, innovation, and courageous acts of love. These can include things such as art, advocacy, hospitality, and storytelling.

Spiritual Practice: Centering prayer on the phrase “God of abundance, open me to new possibilities.

”Discussion/Activity

  • What are some nontraditional or surprising ways people can be generous?
  • How might creative generosity change the way we think about what we have to offer?

Individual Reflections/Activities

  • Reflect: Where in your life might generosity be waiting to emerge in a new form?
  • Journal: What resource (skill, idea, relationship, money, perspective) have you overlooked as a gift?
  • Practice: Identify one unexpected way you can be generous this week. This might be through art, mentoring, listening deeply to someone, sharing space, or connecting people. Then do it and reflect on the experience.

Prayer Phrase

“…do good and share what you have” (Hebrews 13:16).

Enough and to Spare

Take three slow, deep breaths. As you inhale, silently say, “There is enough.” As you exhale, say, “And more to share.” Then name aloud or write down three ways you already experience God’s generosity in your life—big or small. End by asking, “How can I share from what I’ve been given today?”
