Find a church or online ministry

By Wayne Farmer of British Isles

A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 11:1–3

Dunfield House has been a part of the British Isles Mission Centre for 60 years, a place of welcome, peace, and transformation. It has been a home for school trips, youth retreats, church weekends, and moments of deep spiritual connections for the church and many people worldwide. In recent months, the future of this beloved place was in real jeopardy.

Urgent roof repairs were needed to preserve the integrity and safety of the building. With a cost of £165,000, the challenge felt immense—especially in a time when Dunfield, like many charitable organizations, was already facing huge financial challenges. Without a safe and watertight roof, Dunfield House could not remain operational.

The fundraising campaign story that was launched in August 2024 has turned into one of remarkable generosity and faith in action. Individuals, congregations, and community groups who have been touched by Dunfield’s ministry all come together as one to raise the much-needed funds. Some gave generously; others gave what they could. Each gift was meaningful, a piece of the roof quite literally rebuilt by the love of the community for this sacred place.

Testaments from supporters poured in alongside their donations: “I came here twice in the late 70s with my school—some of the happiest memories I have.” “Such a special place, which has blessed so many generations. May it be there for many more.” “Treasured memories of such a special place. May future generations experience the blessing of this sanctuary.”

These weren’t just words; they were stories, memories, and prayers all wrapped into every pound that was given. Thanks to this incredible response, the full £165,000 was raised in just seven months, and Dunfield House is now able to carry out the essential repairs needed to be able to keep its doors open.

This was more than a fundraising campaign. It was a living example of what it means to be a community—united by gratitude for the past and hope for the future. Because of this generosity, Dunfield House will continue to be a place of joy, growth, and blessing for generations to come.

Prayer Phrase

“For in him all things…were created…” (Colossians 1:16).

The International Community

Find (or imagine) a globe or map of the world. Look at all the nations and find a country other than your own. Notice the geographic distance between your homeland and this one. Picture a person living there. Pray for this person. Sense God’s love connecting you just as the oceans connect the continents. Thank God for the spiritual connection you have with all of God’s people around the globe. Ask a blessing on the church as a community sharing Christ’s peace, drawing all into the family of God.
