Writing Our Own Psalm (Psalm 151: an addendum to Psalm 148)
- Praise the Lord for family and friends and a life long enough to enjoy them. Praise him for all that support us and that we support.
- Praise the Lord for the reconnections of distant friends.
- Praise the Lord for strength given to those who have lost their beloveds.
- Praise him for those in life that give guidance and love.
- Praise him for a mouth to share God’s love and give advice and praise to all we meet.
- Praise the Lord for ears that hear and listen and understand the words of others.
- Praise the Lord for ease of pain—both physical and emotional.
- Praise the Lord for revealing new beauties and refreshing our eyes.
- Praise him, wind and rain. Praise him all weather. Praise him for the life it brings forth.
- Praise the Lord…in the shining light…in the cool shade…in those who show might…in all those who are afraid…in the smallest bug…in the largest whale…in things we do see…in things we don’t…when we are joyful…when we are sad.
- Praise God for trials and tribulations that help us to grow strong to face them.
- Help us to…Pursue peace…emphasize the positive…reach out to everyone…rest in his loving arms and promises…remember in gratitude…and follow his prompting in our daily contacts.
- Lord, we give praise and glory to you ALWAYS! AMEN.
Prayer Phrase
“We love because God first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
Spiritual Practice
Sea of Light
Quiet and center yourself. Ask for God’s healing and guidance as you enter this time of prayerful presence. Close your eyes, breathing deeply and calmly. Imagine you are floating in a beautiful sea of light that rises and falls with each cycle of your breath. The golden light of this sea buoys you up, so you float effortlessly. Waves of light carry and wash over you, bringing wholeness and peace. Rest in the sea of God’s love; then offer a prayer of gratitude.
