New Creation

19 March 2026

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Isaiah 54:10

[Adapted from Choose Generosity: Discovering Whole Life Stewardship, Herald House, 2019, p. 111]

Community of Christ belief states: “The Reign of God is the coming triumph of love, justice, mercy, and peace that one day will embrace all of creation. Jesus’ life and ministry were the living expression of this promise. He taught his disciples to pray for the kingdom’s full coming and sent them out to the world to be living emblems of that new creation. “Zion” expresses our commitment to herald God’s peaceable Kingdom on Earth by forming Christ-centered communities in families, congregations, neighborhoods, cities, and throughout the world” (Sharing in Community of Christ, 4th Ed, p. 37).

The result of living Christ’s mission is that we will help bring about God’s vision of shalom on Earth. Shalom is complete peace with everyone experiencing economic justice. If we are living Christ’s mission to bring about God’s vision of shalom on Earth, then getting involved in efforts that promote economic justice is part of the responsibility of the faithful disciple.

Prayer Phrase

“Happy are those who observe justice” (Psalm 106:3).

Healing and Reconciliation

Gather a small mound of stones. Meditate on the stones as symbols of differences and destructive acts that continue to separate and wound the human family. Name and anoint each “stone wound” with a drop of water or scented oil. Offer them to God in a prayer for healing and reconciliation.
