Living a Life of Generosity

21 October 2025

Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.

Mark 12:41–44

This is the second communal and individual reflection from the Generosity Cycle resource titled “Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance.”

Receiving and Responding Abundantly

Focus: Our response to God’s abundant grace is a life of generosity.

Message Theme: Recognizing and receiving God’s abundant and unconditional grace in our lives transforms us. We no longer live from a mindset of scarcity but of abundance, knowing there is enough for everyone if we are willing to share. Sharing is not limited to material giving but includes creative, relational, and spiritual expressions.

Spiritual Practice: Breath Prayer: “Generous God, I receive your abundance.”

Discussion Prompts

  • When have you acted from a scarcity mindset (fear of not having enough)?
  • When have you acted from an abundance mindset (trusting God provides enough for everyone if we share)?
  • Where might you be invited to respond creatively to God’s abundance?

Individual Reflections/Activities

  • Reflect: What would generous living look like for you personally if you fully trusted in God's abundance?
  • Journal: List 5 areas in your life where you feel called to be more generous—think beyond finances: time, attention, forgiveness, etc.
  • Practice: Offer your time or skills to someone this week without expecting anything in return. Notice how it feels to give from a place of abundance.

Prayer Phrase“

…share abundantly in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

From Scarcity to Abundance

Take a deep breath and release your fear of “not enough.” Name one place of scarcity in your life, then name one way you already see abundance. Offer a simple prayer of gratitude: “God, open my eyes to your abundance.”
