Journey with Generosity

11 October 2025

By Phyllis Gregg, Presiding Bishopric office director

Listen to the testimonies of those responding generously. Follow your soul’s yearning to come home to God’s grace and generosity. Let gratitude show you the way.

Doctrine and Covenants 165:2b

Every year, we receive a sacred invitation to pause, listen, and respond as we consider our generous response to God’s love and grace. The Generosity Cycle calls us to dwell deeply in that love, to respond with courage and compassion, and to live into God’s creative abundance. “God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance…” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

What would it mean to live as though we truly believe this? To act with renewed confidence in divine possibility; stepping into the steady flow of love and blessing that moves through all creation?

From October 19 through November 23, we are invited to journey together in the Generosity Cycle, a six-week experience of reflection, discovery, and transformation. This year’s theme, Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance, encourages us to notice God’s presence and respond with the full generosity of our lives.

The Generosity Cycle is not a program, but a rhythm of receiving God’s goodness and responding through faithful living. Rooted in scripture and the Enduring Principles of Community of Christ, it calls us to embrace generosity as a spiritual practice. Each week opens a new dimension of this practice, guiding us toward deeper alignment with God’s purposes of justice, peace, and love. At its heart is an invitation to move beyond scarcity thinking into the limitless possibilities of creative abundance.

The vision of creative abundance reminds us that God’s generosity is not limited to material wealth but overflows spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Around the world, disciples are embodying this vision: in Africa, new wells provide education and livelihoods; in California, a congregation has transformed its property into a community garden and labyrinth; across the globe, small congregations are finding imaginative ways to serve through hospitality, outreach, and care. These are not acts of wealth, but of trust and imagination—sharing what we have in the ever-expanding flow of God’s generosity.

We live in a world searching for hope—spiritually, relationally, and economically. The truth is, there is enough: enough grace, enough creativity, enough love. The Generosity Cycle is our invitation to live into that reality and to let our response ripple outward as hope in action.

Prayer Phrase

“…share abundantly in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

From Scarcity to Abundance

Take a deep breath and release your fear of “not enough.” Name one place of scarcity in your life, then name one way you already see abundance. Offer a simple prayer of gratitude: “God, open my eyes to your abundance.”
