Hunger and Thirst No More

7 February 2026

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Matthew 5:9

From Worship Resources: Year C, Herald House, 2015, pp. 78–79

God of Creation, you spoke, and out of the chaos there was light and life on the Earth.
Have mercy on us for our inability to see the good of your creation.

God of Abundance, you have graced this Earth with enough food and drink for all your children.
Have mercy on us for not making room for all people at the table of life.

God of Compassion, you hear the cries of your children who are hungry, poor, sick, and oppressed.
Have mercy on us when we let the noises of our daily lives drown out the cries of our neighbors.

God of Action, you call men and women to speak for people who are hungry and poor.
Have mercy on us for our apathy and inaction.

Loving God, in Christ you give us new life and pour out your Spirit onto all flesh. Strengthen us, your daughters and sons, to speak boldly, to dream dreams, and to see visions. Give us the grace to see a new heaven and a new Earth—a holy and righteous place where all your children will hunger and thirst no more. Grant us the power to act on this vision. Amen.

Prayer Phrase

“We love because God first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

Sea of Light

Quiet and center yourself. Ask for God’s healing and guidance as you enter this time of prayerful presence. Close your eyes, breathing deeply and calmly. Imagine that you are floating in a beautiful sea of light that rises and falls with each cycle of your breath. The golden light of this sea buoys you up, so you float effortlessly. Waves of light carry and wash over you, bringing wholeness and peace. Rest in the sea of God’s love, then offer a prayer of gratitude.
