Hope for a New World

6 August 2025

By Barbara and Richard Howard

The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Isaiah 11:6, 9

“God’s Melody of Peace,” Community of Christ Sings 319

God’s melody of peace is sounding through the earth.
In choirs of hope our voices raise,
We gladly offer gifts of praise
To bring a song of peace across a world in need.

Let voiceless folk sing out their song is yet unheard.
Let those in bondage find release;
Let warring nations know God’s peace;
And hymns of justice sound across a world in need.

The harmonies of love resound through all the earth.
Wherever Christ is given place in human hearts of every race,
The song of peace is heard across a world in need.

We’re singing a new song,
Lyrics of love in a tune strong.
We’re called to sing out a peace song,
With hope, to create a new world.

Prayer Phrase

“Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12).

Deepening Roots

A tree with superficial roots will wither during drought, or severe storms may uproot it. A tree whose roots go deep is stable and draws from deep waters. Imagine yourself as a tree by a river or stream. Sense your roots extending deep into the earth in search of God’s Spirit. Reflect or pray about what you hope to find as your spirit searches for deeper identity in God.
