Break free of the shackles of conventional culture that mainly promote self-serving interests.
[Excerpted from “Generosity as Resistance” by the Mission Development Team (ages 25-45)]
The world around us appears to be crumbling—or, at the very least, modern life isn’t delivering on its promises. The “march of progress” has only widened the cracks in a broken system.
Generosity can be a powerful act of resistance because transition to new ways of being requires resources.
There are ways to feed the world that don’t deplete the soil.
There are ways to manage land and real estate that keep housing affordable.
There are ways to organize communities that welcome immigrants, embrace diversity, and empower the vulnerable.
With each act of generosity in pursuit of the world as it could be, we prophetically resist the world as it is.
Prayer Phrase
“…share abundantly in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
From Scarcity to Abundance
Take a deep breath and release your fear of “not enough.” Name one place of scarcity in your life, then name one way you already see abundance. Offer a simple prayer of gratitude: “God, open my eyes to your abundance.”
