Week 2—Generosity Cycle
This is a blockquote tolor sit amet, consectetur …the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low; for the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare…

As we move through the six weeks of the Generosity Cycle: Embrace Abundance, Live Generously, each week will offer invitations, reflections, spiritual practices, prayers and stories. Together, we will consider how economic justice, climate justice, and generosity are connected to the flourishing of all creation. This week’s focus is “Beyond Scarcity.”
Reflection
Sometimes we live as if there will never be enough. When we are afraid of not having enough, we may hold tightly to what we have, compete with others, or believe someone else must lose so we can have more. Scarcity thinking can hurt people and the earth. Poverty leaves people without what they need, while excessive consumption uses more than the earth can continue to provide.
The story of manna reminds us that there can be enough when we share what we have. Choosing abundance does not mean everyone gets everything they want. It means trusting that we can create a world where everyone has what they need to flourish.
This Week’s Invitation
Notice Scarcity.
This week, pay attention to moments when you feel like there isn’t enough. Notice when fear, comparison, competition, or the desire to have more begins to shape your choices.
When you notice a scarcity thought, pause and ask, “Am I responding from scarcity or abundance? What am I afraid I might not have enough of? What would change if I trusted there could be enough?”
You don’t have to change every choice. Start by noticing. Awareness is the first step toward moving from fear and scarcity to trust and abundance.
Prayer Phrase
“I am about to do a new thing” (Isaiah 43:18).
Embrace Abundance
Take a slow breath and open your hands. Consider one thing you have received—love, grace, time, resources, or opportunity. Now ask, “What has been given to me that I can share with someone else?” Hold that thought for a moment. As you breathe in, say, “I receive with gratitude.” As you breathe out, “I give faithfully with generosity.” Pray, “May I trust there is enough when I choose to share what I have for the welfare of all.”
