Freely we have received and freely we give.
[Excerpted from “Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance,” https://cofchrist.org/generosity-cycle/]
As we move through the six weeks of the Generosity Cycle, each Tuesday a reflection from the resource “Living in the Flow of Grace: Embracing Creative Abundance” will be provided for both communal and individual consideration. This is the first of those reflections:
The Gift of Grace
Focus: God’s grace is generous and unconditional.
Message Theme: God’s grace is abundant and unconditional. Our journey begins with recognizing the grace already present in our lives. Grace is the divine invitation to live in trust rather than fear.
Discussion Prompts:
- Where have you experienced unexpected grace in your life?
- How does God’s generosity challenge the way you view your own worth or the worth of others?
- How does seeing grace as part of the flow of God’s compassion in the world rather than a transaction change your understanding of generosity?
Individual Reflections/Activity:
- Reflect: When have you felt most aware of God’s grace?
- Journal: Write a letter (not necessarily to send) to someone who has shown you grace.
- Practice: Each day, give someone grace—a kind word, patience, or forgiveness. Notice how it made you feel.
Prayer Phrase
“…share abundantly in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
From Scarcity to Abundance
Take a deep breath and release your fear of “not enough.” Name one place of scarcity in your life, then name one way you already see abundance. Offer a simple prayer of gratitude: “God, open my eyes to your abundance.”
