Bring Justice

11 January 2026

(My servant) He won’t call attention to what he does with loud speeches or gaudy parades. He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won’t disregard the small and insignificant, but he’ll steadily and firmly set things right. He won’t tire out and quit. He won’t be stopped until he’s finished his work—to set things right on earth.

Isaiah 42:1–9 The Message

I’ve been in a period of deep reflection over the past year. I’m paying attention to the ways I can follow the call of Christ by listening deeply to scripture and placing the beloved words firmly in my heart. When I take time to read, learn about, and live our sacred texts, I find joy. I also find challenge. I hope you do, too.

These words from Isaiah 42 seem particularly important right now, Jesus-followers! They are a road map toward living the life of a servant of God, one who speaks with humility, courage, and conviction.

The world groans under the weight of injustice, brokenness, and hatred that move over the planet like a darkness meant to separate and destroy. We are called to set things right, here in the midst of such pain.

Take a moment and reflect on what it means to be one who serves like Jesus did, by working for justice and equity of all. What does it look like for you to notice the marginalized and work to change that which is unjust in the world? What would it mean for you to be dedicated and not quit in your call for the radical love of Jesus to be lived out loud?

This good and important work is best done, as the scripture invites, with a quiet determination that always points to the grace of God, who loves us all and calls us all into relationship through interdependence and deep and abiding care for one another.

So, bring justice when you can, now and always. Look for ways to be an ambassador of Christ’s peace. Do not tire out, nor quit. In the work of healing and hope, we cannot be stopped.

Prayer Phrase

“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).

Spiritual Practice

Light

Close your eyes and become centered with your breath. As you breathe gently in and out, reflect on the statement, “The light of God is in all things.” The light has a bright, soft beauty and radiates God’s healing love. The light of God reaches you and permeates you with a deep sense of peace. Rest in the light as it surrounds and fills you. Thank God that you live in God’s light, and it lives in you.
