You who are my disciples must be found continuing in the forefront of those organizations and movement which are recognizing the worth of persons and are committed to bringing the ministry of my Son to bear on their lives.
[From “Lakota Teachings,” Heal the Earth: A Restoration Imperative, Herald House, 2024, p. 28]
Everything, as it moves, now and then, here and there, makes pauses.
The bird, as it flies, stops in one place to make its nest, and in another to rest in its flight.
In the same way, God has paused, as well.
The sun, which is so bright and beautiful, is one place where God has paused.
The moon, the stars, the winds; God has been with them, too.
The trees, the animals, are all places where God has stopped, leaving the touch of the Holy in all these things.
We, too, have had God pause in us. We, too, have the Holy touch in our beings.
Let us now pause ourselves and listen for the voice of God in our hearts; a voice that calls us to be in everyone.
Prayer Phrase
“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).
Spiritual Practice
Light
Close your eyes and become centered with your breath. As you breathe gently in and out, reflect on the statement, “The light of God is in all things.” The light has a bright, soft beauty and radiates God’s healing love. The light of God reaches you and permeates you with a deep sense of peace. Rest in the light as it surrounds and fills you. Thank God that you live in God’s light, and it lives in you.
