First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.
Conversation matters.
What we talk about is important. Conversation shapes our relationships and can be the leaven that inspires and eases changes. Too often we allow our conversation to fall into cynicism, frustration, and expressions of narcissism. What happens when we invite Jesus into our conversations?
A random call becomes an unexpected invitation to dinner. An impulsive decision to accept, and soon we are sitting across the table, sharing a meal and conversation. A brief prayer and we begin talking about family and work. Soon we move into other topics like faith and the complexities of living life in Christ.
How do we share Christ in a classroom of 10-year-olds? How do Christian ethics influence our relationships with customers? How do we reconcile the demands of our employers with our wish to share Christ’s peace?
We listen, we share, we find hope and encouragement.
Bread broken, lives shared, and suddenly he is alive!
Prayer Phrase
“See, I am making all things new” (Revelation 21:5).
Weaving a Life
Hold, or imagine yourself holding, a piece of patterned cloth. Examine it carefully. Notice overlapping threads, mingling colors that form the design. Write a journal entry or meditate about the threads and patterns of your life. What design do you see? How does the life pattern you are weaving create justice and wholeness in God’s world? What new pattern is God calling you to weave?
