Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
I was a beautiful Saturday morning. The rain finally had stopped. The sky was a beautiful blue with fluffy clouds drifting lazily from south to north. It was a good day for an adventure.
As we drove west from Stillwater, Oklahoma, it started to sprinkle again, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm. After a while we noticed a change in the scenery. Ahead were strange-looking hills. They weren’t mountains. They looked like something one would see in an old-time “western.” Neither of us remembered seeing anything like the scene before us.
As we neared the bluffs and hills it became obvious we were viewing magnificent displays of God’s majesty. The rain was long gone. The bright rays of the sun lit up these masterpieces of God’s creation. It was as though God had sprinkled diamonds, and the hills glittered to reflect God’s handiwork.
The atlas said they were the “Glass Mountains.” But to me it was revelation. God took the plainest clay and transformed it into something beautiful.
Imagine the potential if we respect God’s creation, if we mediate needless destruction of the Earth and its resources, if we reflect God’s love for all creation.
Prayer Phrase
“And all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Abundant Blessings
At the close of the day, reflect on where you noticed God’s blessings, especially in unexpected places. Offer a prayer of thanks and try to release any worry, trusting that God’s abundance will meet you again tomorrow.
