Abundant Love

27 December 2025

By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Luke 1:78–79

[Excerpted from December 2024 Advent Worship Planning Tools]

Great Shepherd, you faithfully lead and guide us each day, yet we still feel like voices crying in the wilderness. You have blessed us with an abundance of love, yet we struggle to feel that abundance. God, as we look about the world today, we recognize many who do not feel your love. Who do not feel the love of their friends and families to support them. Who struggle with loss and division and join our voices calling for a sign of your love.

God, grant us peace. Grant us peace that settles our weary hearts, so we can love again. Grant us peace that allows us to love unconditionally, so others may recognize your light in our lives. By sharing the light of your love in our lives we believe we can become peacemakers for those around us. Bless us with your love during this season of Advent. Amen.

Prayer Phrase

“I bring you good news that will cause great joy” (Luke 2:10).

Kindling the Light

Choose a quiet spot where you can sit comfortably. Place a candle or small light in front of you. Take a few slow breaths, letting the noise of the day settle. Light the candle. As you strike the match or switch on the light, say softly:
“I make room for joy to grow within me.
I make room for the light that connects me to others.
I make room for the Spirit of Christ.”
Pause for a few breaths, letting the glow of the light fill your awareness.
