For he delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. From oppression and violence he redeems their life; and precious is their blood in his sight.
I found a simple, but very cool craft on an online craft website. It ended up being much more than a craft.
Get a glass jar, any size, any shape.
Purchase glow paint at your nearest craft store.
Paint glow paint dots on the inside of the jar.
Expose it to a light for a while; then turn off the lights.
Voila! A glowing firefly jar that emits its glow long enough to fall asleep.
I went to the store, got my supplies, and brought them home. Then, I plopped the plastic bag on the dining room table where all my best craft intentions gather dust. I completely forgot about it until one night when I was turning off all the lights as we were getting ready for bed. I happened to notice something glowing on my dining room table. My forgotten craft, carelessly left in a plastic bag, glow paint and all, was actually glowing.
Despite the late hour, I decided to go ahead and create a glowing masterpiece. Many glow-paint dots later, I ran into our bedroom and excitedly told my husband, “Turn off the lights!” I displayed my handiwork of this little glow jar. We experimented a bit and held the jar up close to a bedside light. We darkened the room, and it glowed even brighter. We both realized the God illustration that we were witnessing.
Our light source is Jesus. He makes us glow. We need to absorb that light to communicate it to others.
Prayer Phrase
“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).
Spiritual Practice
Light
Close your eyes and become centered with your breath. As you breathe gently in and out, reflect on the statement, “The light of God is in all things.” The light has a bright, soft beauty and radiates God’s healing love. The light of God reaches you and permeates you with a deep sense of peace. Rest in the light as it surrounds and fills you. Thank God that you live in God’s light, and it lives in you.
