But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream.
On a visit to Nicaragua, I met a family who has been dealing with a situation that could be complex, due to the health of one of its members.
The sister told us that her son was born with a health condition and that the doctors did not give him much time to live. His condition is cerebral palsy, and he also had other complications with his stomach and intestines.
When the father realized this, he left home. This led to another situation. The mother took refuge with the child’s grandmother because her economic condition was very precarious. In addition, she had some physical and mental illnesses which prevented her from living alone with her son.
On March 14, the boy would turn 15 years old. God has been good, is the mother's expression, and she only wanted her child to be baptized. But because of his condition he could not be immersed in water nor be exposed to loud noises.
When we were about to cross the border to reach Nicaragua, Apostle Carlos received a call from that woman asking him earnestly to baptize her son on his birthday.
When we met with the pastor of the congregation and the family, they expressed the desire that we officiate the sacrament and confirmation that same weekend. Carlos and I made a request to the First Presidency to grant us special permission, a sprinkler baptism.
This permission was granted, and we are so grateful for the speed with which our leaders in the First Presidency assisted us. On Sunday, March 15, 2026, we celebrated the sacrament with a small number of people. It was a beautiful, very emotional time. Many mixed feelings and above all a grateful family, strengthened and full of the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The new community that is being formed is caring, cherishing, caring, embracing, and most of all supporting the needs of the people around the communities we serve.
