A Review

17 March 2023

By Spiritual Formation Ministries

He sees many things, but he does not observe them;
his ears are open, but he does not hear.

Isaiah 42:20

Take a few minutes to review your week. Let memories gently surface in your awareness.

Notice the times when you felt caught up in the routine of the day or the rush of the moment. Were there moments that you saw but did not observe? Or had your ears open but did not really hear? What invitations to deeper presence with self, God, others, and creation do you feel you missed?

Now remember the moments when your eyes were open and you really saw, when your ears were open and you really heard. Maybe an image or a phrase from the week comes to you in this time of prayer. Hold and cherish it. Notice what it was like to be fully present to that situation.

How might you be more awake to what you need to see and hear in the week ahead?

Prayer Phrase

Spiritual Practice

Breathe deeply and repeat the word “courage” in the silence. Notice how you respond in body, mind, and spirit. Practice the feeling of spiritual strength, of stretching beyond what is comfortable and familiar. Bless the feelings that are evoked. Breathe again. Trust that you have everything you need to follow the Spirit in the places where courage is required today.
